Summer Trip 2017: Maharashtra!

A bit of history: My mother, her three sisters and all their families go on a trip every summer to a new place or region. Sometimes our grandparents join us. sometimes a family can’t make it, sometimes our friends join us. Whatever may be, The Summer Trips always continue!
In 2009, it was Kerala
In 2010, it was Tamil Nadu
In 2011, it was Odisha
In 2012, it was Jammu & Kashmir
In 2013, it was Sikkim and West Bengal
In 2014, it was Pondicherry
In 2015, it was Coorg
In 2016, it was Ooty
And In 2017, it’s Maharashtra!

We decided to visit Maharashtra after loads of deliberation. The other options were Andaman & Nicobar, Goa, Nepal, etc. We chose Maharashtra because it felt like a crime to visit so many far flung states but not visit the one right next to us!

The trip began with the train from Bangalore to Solapur. From there, we took another train to Kopargaon which is the closest railway station to Shirdi. The train was pretty interesting 😉 . We stayed in Shirdi for one night and my dad, my uncle and my cousin joined us there. We then drove to Aurangabad and saw the Ajanta caves on the way. At Aurangabad, we stayed at VITS Aurangabad. The next day, we saw Ellora Caves and a few more local attractions. That night, we took a train to Mumbai. At Mumbai, we stayed at SatyaDhyan VidyaPeeth Mutt in Mulund (E). We roamed around Mumbai that day and took the train to Lonavala the next day. We booked a homestay at Lonavala and stayed there for 2 nights. On the third day, we took a train to Pune and stayed at FabHotel Lakme Executive for a night. The next day, we flew back to Bangalore for an end to this memorable trip.
