My dad was flying from New Delhi to New York a few days ago with a stopover of about 20 hours at Istanbul on Turkish Airlines. He had then booked a separate ticket on SpiceJet from Bangalore to New Delhi. The flight from DEL to IST departed at 0615 and the BLR to DEL flight departed at 0020 and arrived at 0305. A 3 hour connection would ideally be enough to pick up the checked bag, go to the international terminal and check in again. Maybe even have some time for the lounge. Its a good plan.
The Sri Saibaba Sansthan Trust has a few large buildings dedicated to housing devotees. Rooms are available here at discounted rates and they are either really close to the temple or they have a free shuttle service to it.
The first leg of this trip involved a train journey from Bangalore to Solapur. We could have also booked a train directly to Kopargaon or Aurangabad to begin with, but that would involve a daytime journey in the train. Not a good idea. So, we decided to take a train to Solapur, stay there for a day at my aunts house and take a train the next night to Kopargaon.
Of our group of 17, 2 started the journey from Solapur, 3 people would join us directly at Solapur and 9 would take the train from Bangalore. My cousin and her dad would fly to Pune and join us at Kopargaon. My dad would join us at Shirdi later that day. His was an interesting story :p.
A bit of history: My mother, her three sisters and all their families go on a trip every summer to a new place or region. Sometimes our grandparents join us. sometimes a family can’t make it, sometimes our friends join us. Whatever may be, The Summer Trips always continue!
